Delmar J. "DJ" Rockers, age 92, of Derby, Kansas, formerly of Garnett, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025.
Born on February 27, 1933, in Garnett, Kansas, Delmar was the son of Anthony and Veronica (Feuerborn) Rockers. He was raised in the Greeley area and attended school in Greeley, where he developed the strong work ethic and values that guided him throughout his life.
Delmar proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, followed by six years in the Army Reserve. His service earned him several honors, including the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Medal, and Korean Service Medal.
A dedicated tradesman, Delmar was a 60-year member of the Pipefitters Union, where he built a respected career and lifelong friendships.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Leah Redus; three sisters, Benita, Mary Eva, and Joan; and five brothers, James, Irvin, Denis, Tony, and Donald.
Delmar is survived by his daughter, Penny Backhaus, and her husband, Robert; his grandson, Kyle Redus; and three great-grandchildren, Kyle Jr., Carmen, and Madison Redus. He also leaves behind his longtime friend and companion, Dorothy Bowman.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Holy Angels Cemetery in Garnett, Kansas. Celebration of Life to follow at the Knights of the Columbus Hall, Garnett.
