DeLona Hoemberg

The memorial Mass celebrating the life of DeLona Hoemberg, formerly of Bertha, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bertha. Visitation will begin on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Christian Mothers Rosary will begin at 9:45 a.m.
DeLona, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 9, 2023.
DeLona "Dee" was born to Roy and Clara (Olson) Stave on March 22, 1934, at their farmstead in Eagle Valley Township, Todd County, MN. She attended country school through the eighth grade. At the age of 18, Dee was united in marriage with Edwin Henry Hoemberg on October 7, 1952, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples.
Dee worked at the Mary Rondorf Retirement Home as a cook while raising their four children. She later worked at Ringer Coat Factory in Staples as a pocket girl until retiring in 1997. Away from work she enjoyed sewing, crafts, baking, cooking, playing cards and dominoes. She was a member of TOPS, Waist Watchers and Christian Mothers. Later in life, Dee received loving care for 8 years from her daughter, Pam, in Brooklyn Center.
Preceding DeLona in death were her husband, Edwin (8-26-97); parents, Roy and Clara; siblings, Russell, Gerald, Royce and Kessell Stave, Carol Canfield, Ruby May, Opal Mertens, and Pearl Hoemberg; and daughter-in-law Pamela Hoemberg.
Loving memories of DeLona will remain with her children, Mike Hoemberg, Kathy (Larry) Coleman,, Pam Afari, and Jeff (Sheila) Hoemberg; 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; siblings, Ronald and Darrell Stave along with Shirley Duis.
Honorary urn bearers will be Malorie Buckholz, Kristin Hoemberg, Lexie Bergstrom and Kyle Hoemberg.
Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Staples, MN.
