I have known Pastor Delores, affectionately known to me as Mother Bates, since I was just 5 years old. I still cherish the memories of those early days at Balm in Gilead on 15th and Wright, where my family joined under the leadership of her and Bishop Bates. They have always held a special place in my heart as the epitome of Godly leadership, deeply rooted in the Word.
Mother Bates is the reason I have such a profound love for praise and worship. In those early days, she led the praise and worship service with such anointing that I never wanted to miss a single moment. I would get so upset if my family was running late to church because her worship set the tone for the entire service. I still remember the transition when Bishop Bates started leading worship, and in my young mind, I thought, Who changed the program? Where is Mother? Eventually, they began leading together-often singing at the same time-and it brought a unique, joyful dynamic to the service. Those moments remain some of my fondest memories.
Now, she is free from pain and suffering, resting peacefully from her labor. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of faith and worship lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. I´m praying for the entire Bates family during this time of loss. May you find comfort in knowing she has run her race and is now at peace.
