Dee was born in New Hampton, Iowa on July 22, 1927, to Joseph and Lillian Denner. Dee was one of nine children and grew up on a farm in New Hampton. Dee met the love of her life, Lynn Rodamaker, who was from Charles City, Iowa. Lynn was a farmer on his parents' farm. Dee and Lynn married on June 7, 1948. They spent the earlier years of their marriage in New Hampton and, as a family of 5, moved to Shell Rock, Iowa. Raising a growing family was tough, so Lynn was continually seeking out better employment to support and care for his large family. Lynn, Dee, and their 3 oldest children moved to San Diego, California. From there, they moved to Salina (Kansas), Birmingham (Alabama), and ended up in O'Fallon, Missouri where most of their children still reside. Dee spent many years working as a stay-at-home mother and then accepted employment at Monsanto in O'Fallon, Missouri, retiring from the company after 25 yrs of service. Lynn suffered a massive heart attack and was called home to Our Lord on April 27, 1992, just a few days before their 44th wedding anniversary. Dee and Lynn always taught their kids that "God will provide!" We didn't always have a lot but we had each other. Dee and Lynn were the "finest" example of good parents as well as of Catholic love and marriage; their children reap those treasured memories in raising their own families today!
Dee met Ernie Picker while attending the Coping and Living Life (CALL) Group sponsored by Baue Funeral Home in late 1994. Ernie proposed to Dee in December of 1995, and they were married in a beautiful ceremony on March 2, 1996, with all of their children as attendants. Ernie and Dee were together 23 wonderful years before Ernie passed on 11/10/2019.
Dee and Ernie enjoyed their time together golfing, bowling and traveling the world. They also loved delivering for Meals on Wheels where they made so many friends along the way. While at home in St. Peters, Dee enjoyed spending time visiting with her family, watching it continue to grow with 32 grandkids, 42 great-grandkids, and 2 great- great grandsons. She also loved doing crossword puzzles. Dee was a faithful member of 22 years at All Saints Catholic Church in St. Peters, Missouri. Dee had a very strong belief in her Catholic religion and spread the faith within her entire family; she was a faithful servant of Our Lord until her death. Dee was a devoted friend to many. She was a sister, aunt, cousin, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was blessed to have lived a very happy and healthy life for 98 years. Dee will be deeply missed by many and loved forever. May Eternal Light shine upon her and she rest in peace in the arms of Our Blessed Mother and her Son, Jesus Christ.
