DeLores M. Winter, of Freeport, went home to be with her family on Monday November 3, 2025. She was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Shannon. Delores was born May 24, 1935, at home on the family farm on Temple Road, to the late W.B. and Luella (Rademaker) Tempel. DeLores was the last of eight children. She grew up in Shannon and graduated from Shannon High School in 1953. She then took courses at Highland Community College before being hired at Economy Fire and Casualty where she worked for 35 years until retirement at the age of 55. Delores married Allan “Buzz” Winter on June 17, 1972. Buzz passed way March 11, 2016. They made a happy life together living and working in Freeport. In her retirement, she spent years putting together her family tree albums. She always took great pride in her family.
DeLores is survived by several nieces and nephews, nephew and niece in law, several great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and husband, DeLores was preceded in death by two brothers, five sisters, father and mother in law, two sisters in laws, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday November 13, 2025, at Bethel United Methodist Church, Shannon. Visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
