Deloris Wallace Obituary

Deloris Ashcroft Wallace

December 21, 1928 - October 5, 2024

Boalsburg, Pennsylvania - Deloris Ashcroft Wallace, 95, passed away on October 5, 2024 at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village in Lewisburg, PA. Dee was born in Sykesville, PA on December 21, 1928, the daughter of James Ashcroft and Vada Rupert Ashcroft. She graduated from Sykesville High School in 1946 and Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA in 1950, the first in her family to complete a college degree.

In October of 1951, in Bethlehem, she married William R. Wallace Jr. and they settled in Boalsburg in 1963. Her husband passed away in 1971. Dee was employed as a medical technician in Philadelphia early in her career and she worked as a Para-Professional at the Panorama Village Elementary School from 1971 until her retirement. She was a Scout Leader for Girl Scout Troop 1184 in Boalsburg and was a long-term volunteer with the Boalsburg Village Heritage Museum. For several years she also curated the village blacksmith's shop, organizing working exhibits for the annual Memorial Day-In-Town celebrations. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir.

Dee was a wonderful, independent lady who loved her family and her adopted hometown. She loved her garden and all its creatures, it's notable that she passed away the day following the Feast of St. Francis as she was a strong advocate for animals and the environment. She is survived by her son William R. Wallace III (Linda) and her daughter Valerie Mike (Tony); four grandchildren, Margaret Silverman (Matt), William Russell Wallace, Andrew James Mike, Rachel Marie Mike (Dan Pierson); and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ in Boalsburg on October 25 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow. Friends will be received from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boalsburg Heritage Museum Association, P O Box 346, Boalsburg PA 16827.

Dear Bill and family, You were in my high school class and you have my deepest sympathy. My mother was secretary at Panorama Village and she adored Dee, her dear friend. I heard her name in our house so often during those years. She was a huge part of my mother“s life. I hope they get to meet again in heaven. Your mom lived a long life and so glad for you and your family. Many blessings, Nancy Shipman class of 72

Bill and family,

I did not have the pleasure of knowing your mother, but she lives on in the good son she raised. She lived a long and interesting life. My prayers for your comfort and many happy memories.
