“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” — Proverbs 31:25
Delphia Lee Murphree, a beloved homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, in Brookshire, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on October 26, 1944, in Magdalena, New Mexico, she touched countless lives with her kind and welcoming spirit.
Delphia was known for her friendly and caring demeanor, always making everyone feel like part of her family. Her home was a true sanctuary — a place filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Friends and family never left her home without feeling seen, valued, and cared for. “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” — Hebrews 13:2
She possessed a remarkable ability to forge connections, and her loyalty to those she loved was steadfast. Delphia was an unwavering source of support, encouragement, and strength to her family and friends. Her nurturing heart reflected the love of Christ in all she did.
Throughout her life, Delphia embraced many hobbies that brought her joy — sewing, crocheting, crafting, painting, and gardening. These creative pursuits were more than pastimes; they were expressions of her generous heart. She used her talents to bless others with handmade gifts and beauty that reflected her love for God’s creation. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” — Colossians 3:23
Delphia took immense pride in her husband, Oga D. Murphree, and her family. Her children — Dennis (Cathy) Murphree, Christine Black, Trica (Aaron) Coronis, and Jessica (Brian) Stokes — along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were the joy of her life. She often said her greatest accomplishments were not things she made, but the people she loved.
Her 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren were her pride and delight. Each one held a special place in her heart. She cheered them on, prayed over them, and celebrated every milestone — large or small. Her arms were always open, and her heart was always full. “Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.” — Proverbs 17:6
Delphia’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She trusted in God’s promises and lived with a gentle spirit and steadfast love that reflected 1 Corinthians 13:7 — “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” Her walk with the Lord shaped her family and will continue to guide generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Delphia Trusty, and her son, Jesse Murphree, whom she cherished deeply.
Family and friends will have the opportunity to pay their respects during a visitation on October 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Schmidt Funeral Home in Brookshire, Texas. A graveside service will be held the following day, October 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Pattison Methodist Cemetery in Pattison, Texas.
Delphia Lee Murphree will be remembered not only for her devotion as a homemaker and mother, but for the enduring love, faith, and joy she spread throughout her life. Her legacy of caring, creativity, and godly love will continue to inspire everyone who knew her.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
