Delroy ("Del") John Wiebolt, 87, of
Bemidji, MN passed away peacefully at his residence on December 14th 2025.
Del was born in
Perham, Minnesota in 1938 to Fred and Leona Wiebolt. Del grew up in Ogema and worked at his Dad's creamery making butter. He graduated from Waubun High School in 1956 and then went on to Dunwoody College in St. Paul, MN and received his degree in Electrical Construction. He worked for IBM, first in
Rochester, MN and later in
Chicago, IL. Del was the Master Electrician at Bemidji State University where he served for 32 years until his retirement. Del married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth ("Betty") Blattenbauer, in 1959. They returned to Minnesota to enjoy the wilderness and small towns. Together they welcomed three children, Daniel, Darwin, and Denise. They raised their children in Bemidji and enjoyed picnics after church, snowmobiling, camping, and many family vacations.
Del enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, bow hunting, and pheasant hunting with his children. After retirement, Del and Betty enjoyed traveling. Del became an avid craftsman and his woodworking can be seen in the homes of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He treasured any time spent with his family. His grandchildren were very special to him. His children and grandchildren continue spending time in his workshop; creating, crafting, and "tinkering" like grandpa did.
Del will always be remembered for his dedication to his family, his work ethic, and his faith. Del was a humble man with good humor and a kind and gentle nature. Del could solve any problem and fix anything around the house. He always had a licorice, peanuts, or Oreos hiding under the seat of his truck, boat, or workbench. Towards the end of his life, you could hear him softly whistling all day long. Del's memory will live on in the hearts and homes of those who loved him.
Del is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty, son Darwin (Debbie) Wiebolt, daughter Denise (Jim) Golden, grandchildren Kalee (Kiel), Shelby, Travis (Jenna), Bryce, and Croix, great-grandchildren Barret and Cohen, sister Jean (Wally) Stangler, brother Ervin Wiebolt, Pete and Debbie Blattenbauer, George and Cindy Andring, Gerald Bjerken, Bernie and Byron Senne, Butch and Darlene Stevens, Tina Smith, and many nieces and nephews.
Del was preceded in death by his son Dan, parents, brother Ken, sisters-in-law Renee and Lois, Ted and Mary Blattenbauer, Bud and Kate Buckles Bonnie Bjerken, Butch and Terry Acampora, A.O. ("Smitty") Smith, and Anella Blattenbauer.
Services will be held at St. Philips Church on Saturday December 20th, 2025 at 10:30 am. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Luncheon will be served at St. Philips Church in the fellowship hall after the service.
Memorials can be donated in Del's name to Little Saints Daycare.
