A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 6, 2023 at 1:30 pm in St. Peter Church for Delsy S. Jagneaux, 88, who passed away February 2, 2023. Father Mark Ledoux, pastor of St. Peter Church, will celebrate the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Kurt Jagneaux and Kim Guidry will be the lectors; Norma Olivier and Kristi Prevost will be the gift bearers. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will perform, "Here I Am, Lord", "Be Not Afraid", "One Bread, One Body", "Ave Maria", and "How Great Thou Art". Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday morning at Walters Funeral Home from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Sister Doris Roy, S.E.C., will lead the rosary at 10:30 am.
Delsy is survived by her husband, John Jagneaux of Lafayette; three children, Lynn Ann Jagneaux, Paul Faron Jagneaux, and Kurt (Katherine) Jagneaux, all of Lafayette; two sisters, Norma Olivier of Carencro and Linda McBride of Church Point; three brothers, Darrel Sonnier of Lafayette, Charles Otis Sonnier, Jr. of Church Point, and Joey Sonnier of Branch, La.; three grandchildren, Brook Lemaire, Alex Jagneaux, and Charlotte Hynes; and two great-grandchildren, Holly Alvarez and Kayden Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Charles Sonnier; one daughter, Catherine Marie Hynes; one granddaughter, Ashley Ryan; and siblings Loray Sonnier, Jenny Lee Matte, and Bonnie Olivier.
Delsy was born in Church Point, La. and resided in Lafayette for 51 years. She was a long time employee at the local grocery store Breaux's Mart. She enjoyed bowling and spending time with family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joey Prevost, Lonn Guidry, Kurt Jagneaux, Paul Jagneaux, Alex Jagneaux, and Adriano Feit. Honorary pallbearers include Lawrence Olivier, Darrel Sonnier, Joey Sonnier, and Charles Otis Sonnier, Jr.
