Gillette Memorial ChapelDemaris Ann Dishion, 75, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, after a courageous battle with dementia. A devoted mother, sister, and teacher, Demaris will be remembered for her kindness, steady patience, and the profound impact she made on countless young lives. Born on April 1, 1950, in Worland, Wyoming, Demaris was the daughter of Dorothy and Carl Corbin. She also cherished the guidance of her stepfather, David Swing. Growing up in a large, close-knit family, she developed a strong sense of compassion that remained with her throughout her life. A dedicated educator, Demaris spent 40 years teaching first and second grade in the Campbell County School District, the majority of them at Paintbrush Elementary School in Gillette. Her classroom was always a place of warmth and encouragement, where her students learned more than letters and numbers — they learned kindness, confidence, and curiosity. Generations of children began their educational journeys under her attentive care, many remembering “Mrs. Dishion” as their favorite teacher. Demaris was married to Tom Dishion, and though their paths eventually diverged, they shared two beloved sons, Kel and Quinn, who were the center of her world, and she remained devoted to them throughout her life, offering strength, love, and support through every stage. Outside of teaching, Demaris enjoyed making crafts and spending time with her family. She was especially nurturing to her younger sisters, offering the same love she gave her students. Demaris is survived by her son Quinn Dishion of Conroe TX; sisters Cheryl Rideout (Mike) of Gillette; and Mitzi Nordstrom (Jeff) of Cheyenne; grandsons Ayden and Kaleb of MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Kel Dishion; her father Carl Corbin; her mother and stepfather Dave and Dorothy Swing; siblings John Corbin, Ronda Johnson, and Carla O’Brien. A memorial service is planned for November 21, 2025 at 10:00 am, at Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 West 5th Street in Gillette, WY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a memorial fund in Demaris’s name at Paintbrush Elementary School in Gillette, Wyoming.
