Mr. Kazelas was one of my favorite teachers! I learned a lot about chemistry as well as an introspective into my own life in my junior year in 1988 at Marist. He was the most personable teacher I ever had, and his advice and wisdom endures to this day.

I haven't seen Mr.Kazelas in ten years, and it breaks my heart that I won't be seeing him again. I remember getting excited about the idea of teaching students Chemistry, because Mr.Kazelas talk to me about it in my senior year at Marist. I'm a lab tech now, but not a week goes by where I don't think about what could have been. He and Mr.Glennon inspired me to do my best to explain math and science to all ages, because the world needs people who can communicate these subjects for all sorts of applications. If I ever get flustered at a subject I haven't understood yet, it's usually his advice and point-of-view to keep grounded and persevere. I owe a lot of my positive personal development to him and Mr.Glennon. I'm sorry I never got a chance to say that to him.
Rest easy, DBK. We'll miss you.

It was fantastic to be taught by a teacher of Mr. Kazelas' caliber. We don't often praise our teachers, but I hope he knew how many lives he positively impacted. My condolences.

Deepest condolences to the Kazelas family. As a Marist alum, Mr. Kazelas was a staple at the school. His class, while challenging, was exciting and fun. I still have the term paper I wrote on Quantum Mechanics for Honors Chemistry. From there I went to earn my degree at U of I in Chemical Engineering. I attribute my career choice to Mr. Kazelas and his love of Chemistry he imparted to his students. Mr. Kazelas, Rest In Peace and Thank You for being an integral part of my life to this day!
