Denise was born on June 10, 1963, in Santa Barbara, California. On October 7, 1984, she married Edd Hancock in Macon, Georgia. Together, they welcomed two daughters, Karen and Ashley.
An avid reader and devoted book collector, Denise found joy in quiet moments spent with a good book. She dedicated over a decade of her life to caring for children as a daycare teacher before continuing her career in retail, where she worked for many years at JCPenney and Badcock Home Furnishings. Above all else, Denise treasured her role as “Mimi,” a title she wore with immense love and pride for her precious grandchildren.
Denise is preceded in death by her beloved husband: Edd; her mother, Martha; and her aunt, Helene.
Denise is survived by her daughters, Karen (Jose) Rodriguez of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Ashley (Hayden) Hancock of Gray, Georgia; and by her beloved grandchildren, Cayden Young, Kennedy Young, Steven Young, and Abigail Tipton; her two sisters-in-law, Sue (Richie) Richardson of Gray, Georgia and Vivian (John) Chiappetta of Milledgeville, GA; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
