It is with heavy hearts that we said goodbye to Denise Johnson, aged 61, who went home to be with her parents and our lord, surrounded by family, on Sunday, August 24th, 2025.
Born in Brainerd on January 25, 1964, Denise was an outspoken, strong-willed woman and proud mother of 4 boys. Her love touched all who knew her. She dedicated her life to her family, friends, her Minnesota Vikings and brought laughter to the lives of those around her with her unwavering compassion.
Denise is lovingly remembered by her sons Steven Mellendorf, Nathan Mellendorf, Kip Peterson and Zachary Johnson. She is also survived by her six siblings - Darlene, Diane, Duane, Debra, Daniel, and Dennis who shared in a lifetime of memories, laughter, and unconditional support.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Arnold and Hazel Johnson, as well as her cherished nephew, Thomas Lourey. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Denise's legacy is one of resilience, quiet strength, hard work, independence and boundless love for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A private service will be held to honor Denise’s life, in accordance with her wishes.
