Denise Marie Sines

Denise Marie (Ponton) Sines, 49, of Mt. Airy, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, following a brief illness. Born June 8, 1963 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Sybil Lowe Ponton. She was the wife of Gerald Sines, with whom she celebrated 23 years of marriage last month. Denise was a self-employed title abstractor for 30 years. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Libertytown. She was an active volunteer with the Linganore High School band boosters, helping with numerous fund raising events. She enjoyed cooking, hand-making Christmas gifts and decorations, and was a devoted wife and mother. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children, Gerald Sines Jr., Lauren Sines and Rebecca Sines, all of Mt. Airy; siblings, Mark Ponton and wife, Terri of Frederick and Michelle Ponton of Damascus; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Paul Ponton. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Libertytown, with Rev. Fr. Jason Worley as the celebrant. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, where a Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
