Cpt. Dennis K. Baldwin, retired, age 74, of Lakeland, Florida, entered his heavenly home on December 25, 2025
Born on January 17, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to R. Maxine Baldwin and Rodney C. Baldwin, Dennis was a graduate of Wendell Willkie High School in Elwood, Indiana. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army from 1971 to 1997 and retired from the Polk County Sheriff’s Department in 2010. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Kathleen M. Baldwin, with whom he shared a life built on love, family, and commitment. Dennis and Kathy were married March 3, 1973.
Dennis served his community through volunteering at church, in local schools and coached at high school, and kids sporting events. Dennis was a devoted follower of Christ and a faithful member of Church for the One – Highland Park Church of the Nazarene where he worshiped and served since 1979. His life reflected his love for God, his family, and his country. He lived with integrity, compassion, and a servant’s heart, leaving behind a testimony of faith.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Kathy, his 4 children, Michelle M. Hernandez (Russell Hernandez), April L. Baggott (Rev. B. Spencer Baggott, II), Wesley D. Baldwin, and Jeremy K. Baldwin (Alley V. Baldwin), 8 grandchildren, Savannah M. Warren (Michael Hassen), Elise I. Warren, Russ Hernandez, Lucas S. Baggott, Abigail C. Baggott, Silas A. Baggott, Bennett C. Baldwin (Charity), and Leo J Baldwin, 6 great-grandchildren Greyson R. Hassen, Hadrian C. Warren, Elijah W. Warren, Chandler J. Hassen, Artemis R. Baldwin, and Theordore A. Baldwin and his dog Rocky.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Chandler S. Warren (2014).
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made to Church for the ONE, Missions Dept
Funeral service at Church for the ONE, 4777 Lakeland Highlands Rd, Lakeland, FL 33813, at 9:30am. Visitation: 8:30 – 9:30am. Procession Following: Florida National Cemetery at 1:00pm.
