Dennis J. Baluh

Dennis J. "Chooch" Baluh, 76, of Latrobe, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023. He was the son of the late Joseph and Pauline Bellish Baluh. Dennis lived a life of service and was a proud veteran of the Army. He worked for the United States Postal Service for more than 35 years while moonlighting as a sergeant for the Seven Springs Borough Police Department. He volunteered as a little league, pony league, and football coach. After retirement, he worked at the Galone-Caruso and Slater-Rega funeral homes of Mt. Pleasant, and Norvelt Golf Club. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society. He was also a member of Hecla Sportsmen's Club, Kingston Veterans and Sportsmen's Club, Mt. Pleasant American Legion, Mt. Pleasant Fireman's Social Club, Norvelt Golf Club, Shaft Club, Slovak American Beneficial & Sportsman Club, and United Slovak Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Connie Stairs Baluh; his loving children, Jeremy Baluh and his wife, Ashley, of Duncannon, Brandon Baluh and his wife, Kelly, of Norvelt, and Bethany Black and her husband, Jeff, of Pleasant Unity: and his beloved grandchildren, Finley Baluh, Brianna and Brynlee Baluh, and Grace and Josie Black. Dennis is also survived by his siblings, Joseph G. Baluh Jr. and his wife, Theresa, John B. Baluh and his wife, Terri, and Denise Moyemont and her husband, David; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, dog lover and friend. He enjoyed spending time with people, golfing, hunting, playing cards, and shuffleboard. Most days, you could find him at the golf course or talking about golf and its many lessons. His favorite of all..."Hit 'em straight!" Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at SLATER-REGA FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 730 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, where parting prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant.
