Dennis Basile

Mr. Dennis Basile, 70, died Monday afternoon (December 21, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health Systems of Waycross after an extended illness. He was a native of Paterson, NJ, but he has resided in the Waycross area since 1958. He was formerly employed by Waycross Police Department as a sergeant, former co-owner of South Georgia Investigative Agency, and former salesman of Taylor Feed. Many years ago, Mr. Dennis worked for a cattle company where he bought and sold cattle, and he raised and raced quarterhorses. A proud sponsor member of Okefenokee Ducks Unlimited, he was a member of Jamestown Baptist Church but recently attended Waycross Primitive Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter Basile and Pauline O'Neal Griffin; step-father, Owen Griffin; and brother, Tony Basile. Survivors include one son, Kennon Wade Basile (Kelly) of Blackshear; former wife, Jerrell Bednar of Waycross; three grandchildren, Dalton, Kolby and Katie Basile; one brother, Travis Griffin (Naomi) of Brantley County; two sisters, Leisa Mitchell (Gordon) and Sheila Shuman (Joey) both of Brantley County; special nephews, Cord Basile (Tina) of St. Marks, FL; and numerous other relatives. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday (December 23, 2015) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends 5 until 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A private burial at High Bluff Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
