Dennis Fletcher Cassada, 82, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
He was a native of the Blackstone, VA area and resided most of his adult life in York County. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maureen, their daughters Shelley Cassada and Linda C. Santos, granddaughter Alicia Santos, his brother Robert Cassada and wife Irene, their sons Lewis and Paul and their families, and his cousin Nell Knight.
Upon graduation from the Newport News Shipyard Apprentice School, Dennis worked as a machinist for ten years before being promoted into management. After 46 years he retired as a Master Shipbuilder.
Dennis strived to be the best he could at whatever he did. He was a man of strong morals. He valued God, family, and hard work. He was a talented carpenter who built several pieces of furniture for the family home and built screened porches for several neighbors. His electrical, mechanical, fabrication, and auto repair skills helped to make him an asset to his family and community.
In addition to spending time in his workshop, Dennis enjoyed motorcycle riding through the back roads of Virginia, watching football and NASCAR races, and listening to bluegrass and classic country music.
He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
A celebration of life service will be held on November 23rd at 1pm in the Social Hall at Zion United Methodist Church, 2109 Seaford Road, Seaford VA 23696. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you please consider donating to Zion Methodist Church.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Dennis. I graduated from Crewe High School and knew Dennis from Blackstone. He was always such a nice young man. I know your family will miss him greatly.
