Dennis Doheny Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNearney - Schmidt Funeral and Cremation on Oct. 1, 2025.
Dennis Mark Doheny, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home on August 10, 2025.
He is survived by his children Alissa, Dustin, and Raquel (Joel); granddaughter Aerial (Dakota); two great-granddaughters (Valarie and Vanessa); siblings Danny (Marion), Jeff (Laura), Katie (Joe), Larry (Denise), Bobby (Diane) and Joel (Lori); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He is predeceased by his brothers Steve and Terry, and his parents, Bob and Rosemary.
As the third of nine children in his family, Denny often reminisced over stories of helping take care of his younger siblings, as well as many of the challenges and triumphs of being part of a large Catholic family. He was also active in sports - he was a Golden Gloves boxing champion and enjoyed playing volleyball and other recreational sports.
Denny was also a proud veteran, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and continued to show pride as a veteran. He was a member of the Shakopee American Legion for many years and even hosted karaoke for a brief time.
Denny worked as a carpenter, learning alongside his father, going on to run his own construction business. He contributed to numerous commercial and residential projects throughout the Twin Cities metro area. He took pride in his work, building a reputation for reliability and craftsmanship.
In his younger days, Denny also worked as a DJ under the name "Disco Denny," spinning records during the 70's.
He was known for his sense of humor and ability to lighten the mood, often cracking jokes regardless of the situation. When he was in the mood to socialize, he had a knack for striking up conversations with strangers. He loved a night out with friends.
Denny will be remembered by those who knew him for his big heart, work ethic, stories, and ability to connect with people.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Turtle's 1890 Social Centre at 112 Lewis St. S., Shakopee, MN (arrival time 1:00 p.m.; services at 1:30 p.m.). In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Meals on Wheels Minnesota or the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) – or buy your friends a round!
