Dennis Elder

Dennis Elder Sr., 88 of Knox, Indiana, formerly of Elfrida, Arizona, passed away on December 26, 2025. He was born in Knox, Indiana, on December 15, 1937 to Doyle and Minnie (Freet) Elder.

On October 9, 1957, in Hamlet, Indiana, Dennis married the love of his life, Winifred (Davis) Elder, who preceded him in death on August of 2015. Together they shared many years of love, family, and hard work.

Dennis was a skilled auto repair mechanic and proudly owned and operated his own shop for many years. Known for his mechanical talents, he rebuilt tractors and automobiles and had a true gift for working with his hands. In addition to mechanics, Dennis enjoyed leatherworking, sightseeing, bird watching, and photographing wildlife. He loved traveling back to Indiana to spend time visiting family and friends and cherished the companionship of his beloved dog, J.J.

Dennis was an attendee of New Life Church in Hamlet, Indiana, where he found fellowship and comfort.

He is survived by his four children, Sandra, Denise, Brenda, and Dennis Jr.; ten grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Dennis was the last living of all his siblings, which was a testimony in itself.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Winifred; his daughter, Joyce; and his great-great-grandchild, Gracie Scarlet.

Dennis' wishes were to be cremated. A private graveside service will be held at Eagle Creek Cemetery at a later date with Pastor George Elder.
