Dennis Franzen, age 72, of West Union, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Hillcrest Home in Sumner, Iowa.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at St. Luke Catholic Church, in St. Lucas, Iowa, with Rev. Nicholas Radloff presiding. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Church on Friday, December 12, 2025.
He was born on March 27th, 1953, in West Union, Iowa, to Victor and Lillian Margaret (Aud) Franzen. He attended St. Luke's Catholic School and graduated from Turkey Valley School in 1971.
On June 7th, 1975, Dennis was united in marriage to Karen Neuzil at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa. They had one son, Leslie.
Dennis farmed, drove a semi truck, and did factory work. He enjoyed visiting his son, reading, watching his favorite television program, and grilling.
Dennis is survived by his wife Karen, St. Lucas, Iowa. Son, Leslie Franzen, Madison, Wisconsin. Brothers, Ignatius and Sherrie Franzen, Otis, Louisiana. Bernard, David, and Richard (Susan) Franzen, St. Lucas, Iowa. Sister, Stella Franzen of Colorado. Brother-in-law, Larry (Jeanne) Neuzil of Spillville, Iowa, Guenter Hagemeier of Milwaukee, WI, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Margaret Franzen, father and mother-in-law, August and Dorothy Neuzil. Sisters, Mary Anne (infancy), Dorothy Hagemeier, and Joanne (Mike) Heins. Sisters-in-law Helen Franzen and Doris Franzen.
