Dennis Roy Hermosillo, was a beacon of joy and laughter in the lives of many. Born on August 7, 1958, in Oak Park, Illinois, he was a man who lived a life full of passion, humor, and love. On October 8, 2025, Dennis was called to his heavenly home from Romeoville, Illinois, after a valiant battle with cancer. His spirit, carried by the grace of God, now rests in eternal peace.
Dennis was the beloved husband of Lisa Hermosillo, sharing a bond of unconditional love and mutual respect. He was a loving father who experienced the profound joy of parenthood with his daughters, Elizabeth and the late Kathryn Hermosillo. Dennis was the cherished son of the late Arlene (nee Young) and the late Lawrence Hermosillo, and he carried the legacy of his parents' love and wisdom throughout his life. As a brother, he was a source of comfort and camaraderie to Juanita (the late Bob) Neal, Patricia (the late Dennis) Mackessy, the late Larry (Mary Lou) Hermosillo, and Karen (Erik) Foggey. He was also a respected son-in-law to James and the late Esther Madeja and a fond brother-in-law to Tony (Martha Lucero) Madeja, Jimmy Madeja, Michael Madeja, and David (Kathy) Madeja. Also, survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Dennis' journey in education concluded with his graduation from Argo High School in 1977. His dedication to his work was evident in his 40-year tenure with District 109 in
Justice, Illinois, where he served with distinction in custodial and janitorial roles. Dennis' commitment to his work was a testament to his character; he was diligent, reliable, and took pride in his contributions to the community.
A man of faith, Dennis walked in the light of Christ, exemplifying Christian virtues of kindness, patience, and compassion. His love for music was profound, with the soul-stirring melodies of Elvis Presley, the heartfelt hymns of gospel music, and the timeless tunes of classic country music often filling his home. In his leisure, Dennis was an avid collector of comic books and superhero memorabilia. His particular fondness for Batman was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his belief in justice and the triumph of good over evil.
Dennis' intellectual curiosity was fueled by his love for history. He enjoyed studying the Civil War and the life of Abraham Lincoln, drawing lessons from the past that informed his understanding of the present. His passion for history was not merely academic; it was a way of understanding the world and his place within it.
Those who knew Dennis would describe him as funny, loving, and passionate. His humor was a gift that he shared generously, bringing smiles and laughter to all around him. His love was a warm embrace that comforted those in his presence. His passion was the fire that lit his path and inspired others to pursue their own with vigor.
As we remember Dennis Roy Hermosillo, let us celebrate the life he lived and the love he shared. Though he has passed from this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. May the memories of his laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering faith be a comfort to us all as we commend him to God's loving embrace.
