Dennis Paul Jones

Dennis Paul Jones was born the first of twelve children on July 24, 1951 in West Memphis, Arkansas and was raised in Danville, Illinois by the late Hattie B. Gentry and Isaac Gentry, Sr.
Dennis attended Danville High School in Danville, Illinois, where he excelled in academics, intramural bowling, and Spanish club. After graduating high school, Dennis enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1973.
Dennis attended North Central College where he was placed on the President's List for outstanding academic performance and earned a Master of Business Administration. Dennis also attended Aurora University where he earned a Master of Arts Teaching.
Dennis worked as an Information Manager at Lucent Technologies and retired after 20 years of service. After retirement, Dennis went on to work at Beaupre Elementary School as a Computer Lab Teacher.
Dennis met and married the love of his life Carolyn Jones (Clay). This union formed a family with two sons, Aaron Jones, Toure Sims, and one daughter, Towana Sims.
Dennis loved music and collecting CDs and records. He was skilled in martial arts and enjoyed bowling. Dennis also loved to cook and was always interested in new recipes.
Dennis went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 18, 2022. Dennis was a loving, husband, father, brother, and uncle. Preceding him in death were his parents Isaac and Hattie Gentry, sister Evelyn Pernell, and brother Derrick Gentry.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 34 years Carolyn Jones of Aurora, Illinois; his sons, Aaron Jones and Toure Sims of Aurora, Illinois, his daughter Towana Sims of Richmond, Texas, seven brothers: Rev. Dr. Clarence Luckey, Steve (Sharon) Gentry, Gary Gentry, Rev. Isaac Kim (Elnora) Gentry, Rev. Mark (Lori) Gentry, Rev. Mason (Rose) Gentry and Damon Gentry; two sisters, De Lisa (Dominic) Huerta and, DeChelle Mayowa Adebiyi; one uncle, Irfan Abdul-Ahad and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 10 A.M. until the service time of 11:30 A.M. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N. May St., Aurora, IL 60506. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL 60421 with all to meet at the cemetery for a 2:30 P.M. service with Military Honors.
