Dennis Severn Kiel, 83, passed away on March 22, 2025, at Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on October 16, 1941, in Golden Eagle, IL. Denny dedicated his life to his family, faith, and hard work. He married the love of his life, Rosie (Pohlman) Kiel on May 18,1963 and she survives. Together they built a life filled with love and devotion.
Denny was a proud father to his sons, Gary (Shannon) and Wayne (Christy) Kiel. He was a cherished grandfather to Erica Ward, Spencer Kiel and Brandon Harris, and a beloved great grandfather to Julian Ward and Paisley Harris. Denny is survived by his in-laws, Albert Pohlman, Larry and Mary Ellen Friedel, Paulette Pohlman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Edna (Toppmeyer) Kiel, his siblings and their spouses, Evelyn (Raymond) Burns, Glen (Jean) Kiel, Roscoe (Joan) Kiel, Dale (Erma Dell) Kiel, in-laws Paul and Agnes Pohlman, Clarence Pohlman, Steve and Kathleen Pohlman, Geri Pohlman and Vince Pohlman.
A skilled carpenter, Denny worked for 38 years and was a dedicated member of Carpenter's Union Local 1987. His craftmanship and strong work ethic left a lasting impact on those he worked with. He was also a proud member of St Joseph's Catholic Church and Calhoun Knights of Columbus, demonstrating his commitment to faith and community service.
Denny will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and dedication to his family. His legacy of love and hard work will live on in those who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 25th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gress, Kallal, & Schaaf Funeral Home in Brussels, IL. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Meppen, IL. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Calhoun Ambulance Service or St. Joseph Cemetery.
