Dennis Kopp Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes - Southside Chapel on Mar. 5, 2025.
Dennis William Kopp passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at the age of 73, in Lakeland, Florida. A man of deep faith, Dennis began and ended each day on his knees in prayer, lifting up his loved ones, especially his six children. He was devoted to his church and cherished his community, never meeting a stranger. His kindness and warmth left a mark on everyone he encountered.
With an incredible work ethic, Dennis pursued diverse careers in his early years, working as a carpenter, roofer, drywall installer and EMT – always finding fulfillment in helping others. Later, he earned his contractor's license, installing doors and windows for Home Depot and Lowe's.
Born the youngest of five children in Orlando, Florida, on March 22, 1951, Dennis often spoke fondly of his childhood, which was filled with love and adventure. He graduated from Forest Lake Academy in Apopka, Florida and attended Southern Missionary College in Tennessee where he met Patricia (Trim) Dolick. They married and had three daughters. After their divorce, he met Tracy Lessley, and married, having two sons and a daughter. He remained a devoted husband for forty years until her sad passing in October 2023. Then, at 73, Dennis met Connie Kimbley at Church; they were married on December 15, 2024. They were members of the Lakeland Seventh Day Adventist Church where he was a deacon.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. God blessed Dennis with not only the gift of family and fatherhood, but also a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious smile. He never took life too seriously and encouraged those around him to do the same. Because of his dedication to the church and role of Pathfinder youth group leader, his children grew up knowing God.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Charles Kopp and Ruth (Jones) Kopp, siblings Richard Kopp, Ellen Roland, Doug Kopp, Clyde Kopp and wife, Tracy (Lessley) Kopp.
He is survived by his loving wife Constance Lorena Kopp (Connie); six beloved children: Lisa Price, Tammy Wallen, Robin Holloway, Dennis Kopp Jr, Patrick Kopp, Katilynn Kopp and "bonus daughter" Arabella Kimbley; eight grandchildren: Amanda (Canupp) Mendoza, Joshua Canupp, Dustin Bradburn, Brianna Barfield, Drake Duncan, Blaine Duncan, William Wallen and Tristin Corlew; four great-grandchildren: Deanna Mendoza, Oliver Mendoza, Owen Canupp and Ruby Buchanan and many adoring nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 29th at Lakeland Seventh Day Adventist Church; visitation will be from 1:30pm until 2:30pm, with the service immediately following. Condolences may be sent to the family at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes. In the Lieu of flowers, please send donations to Lakeland Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Missing my friend of 69 years! Worked together with him on jobs in Asheville North Carolina area, as well as Tampa and Highlands area of Florida. Always talked about his faith and how God always came through for him! That was his recognition and proclamation throughout his life. Even when he fell and broke both legs at the same time, he pointed out how God provided. Divine intervention, as he always said! As he worked for other people, he always did more than what he was hired to do. He always looked for opportunities to help people. He was fun to visit with, and inspirational in his walk with God. I miss him and look forward to enjoying Gods new creation with him in the earth made new! And I thank God for his friendship in my life.
