Dennis Lee McGovern

Dennis Lee McGovern, 82, of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026. He was born on February 12, 1943, in Ragersville, Ohio.
Dennis courageously battled Parkinson's disease for almost 20 years, facing each day with resilience and dignity. He was a wonderful husband, dad, friend, boss, and mentor to many. Dennis loved his family, traveling (a particular fondness for Italy), grilling, golfing, fishing, hunting, UT football, music, fine art and had a special place in his heart for dogs. He also enjoyed a good glass(es) of wine and was known for his witty, sarcastic sense of humor that could lighten any mood. Though he could seem tough at first, he was all heart, and loyal to those he loved.
His work was a passion, and he spent a long and successful career in retail, serving in many leadership roles where he guided, supported, and inspired. He was deeply dedicated to both his work and his family, always giving his best to the people and responsibilities he cared about most.
He is survived by his loving and adoring wife, Adriana McGovern, his three beautiful children and their spouses, Michelle McGovern Rossi (James), Sean McGovern (Bridget), Deanna McGovern Rosenblatt (Ben), his bright and caring granddaughter, Elaina McGovern, his distinguished brother, Col. Larry McGovern, United States Air Force (Sue), his grandpups, Atlas, Louie and Izzy, as well as many lifelong friends who were like family. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Myrtle and Albert McGovern and his brother Ronald McGovern.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate teams at Shalom Hospice and Sacred Ground for their care and kindness.
Dennis was deeply loved, cared for and will never be forgotten.
A celebration honoring Dennis will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for which he supported and donated to for years. He and his wife are members of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
