Dennis Charles Miller, age 82, the son of William Phillips Miller and Marian Hodge Miller, was born June 2, 1943 in Milford, Utah. He peacefully returned to his heavenly home surrounded by family on Nov. 9, 2025 at the Milford Memorial Hospital. Dennis attended Milford High School and graduated as a member of the Class of 1961. Following high school graduation, Dennis enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for three years. While in the Army, he studied on his own to receive his FCC License. Dennis was a member of the signal corps where he studied radar and missile defense control systems. Always a shy lad, Dennis decided that he needed to get serious about girls, so he wrote two young ladies with the hopes that they would answer his letter. One young lady paid no attention to his letter, but his high school chemistry partner (yes, the one that helped him almost blowup Milford High School) Margaret Whittaker replied to the letter and so the romance began, and they were married June 27, 1964 in Milford, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple in 1969. Dennis faithfully served as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held various church callings such as high priest group leader which he loved doing.
Dennis enrolled in Salt Lake Trade Tech where he studied electronics and was hired to come back to Milford and work for AT&T and later Mountain Bell, which he did for 30 years. Then he retired and did what he had a passion for in life. Dennis became a vital part of the Milford Wildlife Association. While he was a member of this group, he helped with the raising and release of many chukars and helped build a number of guzzlers for the BLM. The Bureau of Land Management presented Dennis and the Milford Wildlife Federation with the State Director's Annual Volunteer Health of the Land Award because he and the Association had gone the extra mile as volunteers. He also received the Conservation Achievement Award from the Utah Chapter of the Wildlife Society. Dennis was selected as a National Semi-finalist in the Sixth Annual Take Pride in America National Awards Program and was presented with an award from Governor Norman H. Bangerter.
Over the years, Dennis has contributed countless hours of work to DWR efforts including fire rehabilitation after the Mineral Mountain wildfires, antelope trapping on Parker Mountain, and three years as a Dedicated Sportsman Volunteer Area Coordinator. After working as a volunteer for the DWR for a number of years, they finally saw his worth and hired him as a seasonal employee for 14 years.
Dennis loved the great outdoors. He loved chasing lions with his many hound dogs, hunting, hiking and fishing. He has hiked over many mountains in the county. Dennis loved history and politics and read many history books. He was a strong republican and he was not afraid to tell you. He loved to serve his community and was a member of the Beaver County Planning and Zoning Committee and was a hospital board member for many years.
Dennis will be remembered for his philosophy that whenever you stop rowing, you start downstream. He also believed you cannot dream yourself into a character. You must hammer and forge yourself one. He was happiest when he was working and accomplishing something.
Dennis' main love in life was his family. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann and his daughter Denise (Dwayne) Bradshaw and their children Dallon (Elizabeth) Bradshaw, Dalton (Makayla) Bradshaw, Danielle (Tanner) Day and Dailey (Logan) LeFevre. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren – Isabelle, Nya, Desaree, Adalyn, Thea, Graelyn, Savannah, Curtis, Iris, Hayzlee, Miller and Charles.
He is preceded in death by his parents William Phillips and Marian Miller; sister, Judith Mayer and brother-in-law, Don Mayer; and brother, Steven Miller.
Viewing times will be held Friday, Nov. 14, 2025 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the Milford 1st Ward church building located at 748 West 600 South State Street, Milford, UT. Interment will be at the Milford City Cemetery.
