Dennis Ray Morgan, 71, passed away on October 6, 2025.
Dennis was born to Charles Morgan and Louisa Grissom on April 6, 1954, in Pomona, California. He had three siblings: Owen, Sherrie, and Kimberlin.
Dennis was cherished by his family. He was married for around 20 years and was devoted to his wife, Kimberly, who preceded him in death. Although they legally separated, his care for her ran deep. They had three daughters together: Shannon, Brandy, and Reeannon. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was "everybody's grandpa." He was close friends with Jim, and they liked to camp, play with models, and play video games together. Dennis adored animals and owned several cats and fish during the last stretch of his life. He had a cat named "Pester," one named "Mokie," and then had a cat named "Miss P," which was short for Miss Pester.
Dennis had a lengthy career as a naval machinist and recruiter. He enlisted in the Navy when he was young and eventually retired. Dennis thoroughly enjoyed his naval career and was highly respected by his fellow sailors. He was a hard worker who also worked for Holland America and United Airlines throughout his life.
Dennis was orderly and analytical, and he valued honesty. His love language was feeding people, and Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday. He had a good sense of humor, and enjoyed teasing his loved ones playfully. He had a lifelong passion for learning and discovery. He was a devoted tinkerer who had interests in technology, woodworking, geology, and theorizing about what, or who, could exist in space. He was especially interested in solar technology, and through his network of solar panels, he was able to reduce his power bill, and eventually was able to sell back the excess power.
Dennis used to say, "Go live your life and be happy." Although he will be forever missed by the people who knew and loved him, you can help carry on his legacy by embodying the unconditional love he showed, by dedicating yourself to your work, by being present for your family even in tough times, and by nurturing your passion for learning. He would want you to go live your life and be happy.
Dennis Morgan's funeral service will take place at Weeks Dryer Mortuary on Friday, October 24th from 10:00-12:00. His committal service follows, at the Tahoma National Cemetery on Friday, October 24th from 1:30-2:00 PM. The address for both services is 220 134th Street South, Tacoma, Washington 98444.
