Dennis Albert Nisbet, of Crystal Lake, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026 at the age of 84.
He was born February 27, 1942 in Louisville, KY, the son of the late Garland A. and Martha (nee Delph) Nisbet.
Dennis married the love of his life, Cathy Jean Owen, in 1977. Together, they built a life filled with love, shared adventures, and memorable travels, and even partnered in running a photography business while living in California.
A dedicated and talented photographer, Dennis had a gift for capturing life’s most joyful moments from weddings to birthdays preserving memories that would be cherished for years to come. He was a proud member of the Professional Photographers of America and the California Photographers Association, and generously shared his expertise by teaching classic portraiture and lighting.
At home, Dennis was rarely idle. A skilled craftsman, he took pride in working with his hands, just as he did in perfecting the art of grilling and smoking meats. He approached even the smallest details with care, from precisely measuring freshly ground coffee beans to brew the perfect cup, to serving as the family’s trusted expert for all things technology.
Above all, Dennis will be remembered as a devoted husband and a loving father. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
In addition to his loving wife, Cathy, he is survived by his daughter, Heather (Scott) Azzarello; beloved granddaughter, Piper; and his siblings, Sharon (Grady) Collins, Marty Nisbet, Gene (Debbie) Nisbet, and Norman (Tamio) Nisbet.
Services for Dennis are private for his family.
