I knew Dennis at K State. He lived in Haymaker Hall and I lived in Ford Hall. I then met him again when I moved back to Kansas City and we went to the same church, Grace covenant Presbyterian. He was a great guy.

My heart hurts for all who were lucky enough to know him. When I was upset because I thought I had done poorly on the master gardener exam, he reminded me to look at what I had done right. So kind. So thoughtful. So long ago and still stays with me because I remind myself to count those positives. Thanks Dennis.

Dennis was just starting out at the extension service when I became a
Master Gardener. I loved working with him. He had a gift for letting people create and run programs. It was inspiring how he could run such a large program on his own. It was a gift.
Years later, after I was no longer a MG I ran into Dennis and he still remembered me.What a joyful and talented man. What a loss.

Dennis you knew how to take a room of person's unite them with a common thread and grow our gardening community. I knew Dennis briefly while at KSU. His smile, humor and laughter rings in my ears.

I knew Dennis from the EMG program and can only add a second to the statement above. If you talked to Dennis once, you felt like you knew him. An incredible man and teacher who made everyone feel like a personal friend. He was such an encourager with a wonderful sense of humor. God bless the entire Patton family as you go through this difficult time.

I am so sad to hear this news, I will say prayers for his family. This is such a huge loss for our community. I didn't even know he was ill, just last week I recommended someone contact him about a gardening question. He was always so generous with his time when I had a question and always happy to help. Even if his answer wasn't what I wanted to hear, he had a way of saying it gently and jovially so that really helped. Enjoy the flowers in Heaven Dennis, you and your wisdom will be missed here.

My husband and I are plant people, so we certainly know Dennis Patton. Dennis also came to the prairie village counsel meeting when keeping backyard bees was up for debate. He gave a thoughtful presentation on the importance of bees. Sure enough, PV now allows backyard beekeeping. We are so saddened that Dennis has died...way too young. All of his family are in our thoughts. I´m sure he´s in a beautiful garden right now, with chickens.

Sending prayers to the family from the Class of 1978. There are many memories from school and the local county fair. Tell the boys/men that their father was part of a wonderful group of classmates. All of us were lucky to have grown up together. Class of 1978 prays that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement and leave you only cherished memories of your Father.
