Dennis Henry Payne Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dennis Henry Payne, Sr., on December 24, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on June 14, 1944, in Paterson, New Jersey, to the late Joseph and Helen Terhune Payne, Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose warmth and caring nature touched the lives of so many.
Dennis dedicated his life to serving as a Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service, a role that allowed him to connect with his community and share kindness with every letter he delivered. His commitment to his work mirrored his dedication to his family, which he cherished above all else. He and his beloved wife, Linda, shared a beautiful marriage that lasted 61 years, having met while working together. They built a life filled with love, laughter, and invaluable lessons that they imparted to their children.
Together, they raised three sons, who will forever carry forward the wisdom and values their father instilled in them. Dennis was also a proud grandfather to seven wonderful grandchildren, whose joy and achievements brought him immense pride and happiness.
A man of simple pleasures, Dennis enjoyed many cherished moments with his family. He was known for his practicality, dry sense of humor, love of music, watching tennis and ensuring that his loved ones understood the importance of resourcefulness and making the most out of everything life had to offer.
Dennis is survived by his wife, sons, grandchildren and his dear sister, Judy Brenner. His legacy will live on through his family, who will remember his gentle spirit and the love he shared throughout his life.
He is preceded by his parents, and brother, Joseph Payne.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Parkinson Foundation or The Michael J. Fox Foundation in honor of Dennis, who faced the challenges of the disease with courage and dignity.
The family will host a Memorial Service at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel on Sunday, January 4th, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Followed by placement at the Mausoleum in Peachtree Memorial Park. They invite all who knew Dennis to join them in celebrating his remarkable life and the many lives he touched.
