Dennis Joseph Schiavone Sr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members, on November 17, 2025. Dennis was born November 20, 1952, raised in Beltsville, MD, and graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1970. After apprenticing and working in the trade of mechanical contracting, he opened his own plumbing and HVAC business that he operated successfully for almost forty years until his retirement. In his free time, he greatly enjoyed cooking, bird and nature watching, gardening, and spoiling his many rescue dogs. He is survived by his devoted wife Nancy, whom he married in 1971 and celebrated 54 years of marriage with this past July; his daughter Dawn Schiavone Crist and her husband Tim; his son Dennis Schiavone Jr. and his wife Lauren and their three children Jon, Jeremy, and Joshua; his brother John J. Schiavone (Susan Marie, deceased); and his sister Susan Schiavone-McGinley (Robert). He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Schiavone, and his brothers Kenneth, William, and Richard. The family has honored his wishes for a private cremation.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Partnership for Animal Welfare (PAW) in Greenbelt, MD or to any other organization benefiting homeless animals.
