Denson Delano Rubac passed away peacefully at his home on December 3, 2024.
Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, Dec. 7 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hope Lutheran Memorial Park in Buckholts. A visitation will be Friday from 6-8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Denson was born at home on September 22, 1933. He was the third of eight children born to Frank and Lydia Rubac. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Rubac, and brothers, Marvin, Ronnie, and Franklin Rubac.
He is survived by daughters, Sheryl White and husband Jack White, and Lisa Roden and husband Curtis Roden; grandchildren, Shelly White, Elizabeth White, Dustin Thomas and wife Heather Thomas, Caitlin Roden, and Hayden Roden; great grandson, Keaton Thomas; brothers, John Rubac and Lynwood Rubac and wife Sue Rubac; and sisters, Lillian Haisler and Bobbie Williams.
He entered in the U. S. Army in March of 1953. After he left the army, he went to work for A&M Construction. His next job was at Alcoa in Rockdale, where he worked until retiring in 1993 after 37 ½ years. He was working there when he married Sharon Leatherwood and they were married November 7, 1957, in Temple, TX. They were married for 65 years until she passed away on October 26, 2023. During his lifetime, he raised chickens and cattle and did custom farming. He loved to travel with his wife and sometimes grandchildren. He especially loved traveling out west and to Las Vegas, though he eventually discovered Louisiana and traveled there often. He loved gardening and was proud of his fresh vegetables. He loved supporting his grandchildren and attended every event he could. In 2024, Denson started his own crawfish farm on his homeplace.
