Deppish Kirkland III

Deppish Kirkland III of Savannah, Georgia passed away at the age of 72 on Sunday, September 4, 2022. Dep was born in Savannah on November 9, 1949 to Deppish, Jr. and Mertice (Keiffer) Kirkland. Dep grew up on Wilmington Island, attended Savannah High, and received his law degree from The University of Georgia in 1975. He practiced law in Savannah and Atlanta and was admitted to practice before various state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court.
Later, Dep left the law and took off for New York City to pursue his lifelong dream of working in the creative arts. Dep's work as an actor, writer, and director has been seen on both coasts, on stage, screen, and television. Dep combined his law background with his love of writing and in 2015 published the book LAWYER GAMES: After Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the true story of the Jim Williams murder trial. Recently, Dep performed in and directed the Off-Broadway production of his own play, MsTRIAL, at New World Stages in New York City. Dep served as chairman of Isle of Hope Entertainment and had plans to produce MsTRIAL as a feature film, along with a host of other film and television projects.
Dep was predeceased by his sisters, Barbara (Babs) and Lynn Kirkland. He is survived by two loving daughters, Emily Kirkland and Margaret Kirkland Wray, son-in-law James Wray, and grandson Aiden James Wray.
