Derek was born 10/02/89 to Dave and Kathy Barrows. Derek had a contagious smile and could make anyone laugh. Derek loved his family and all being together. He loved planning birthday dinners and making face time calls. Derek loved driving his gator down to see Jason. Derek loved being with his niece and nephews. We are all going to miss his kind loving heart and wasn't ready for him to gain his wings so soon.
Survived by parents Dave and Kathy, grandparents Art and Wilma Hasbrook sister Jaime (Eric), brother Jason(Megen) niece and nephews Trevor, Justin, Adam, Logan, Paisley, Cassie and Cole and many Aunts and Uncles
Derek and his family are being cared for by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Perry Chapel.

I remember Derek as a four year old and the years until he we 10 or 12 years old. I was his teacher those many years and he was a challenge and a delight. He was so intent on keeping his belongings orderly. He always brought a smile to me as he made an effort to complete tasks. I´ll always remember his sideways glance to check that I was paying attention when his back was to me. I think of him often and will continue to do so. I am so sorry for the hole that is in your hearts. You were the best family that Derek could have asked for. Sincerely, Mary Parker
