Derek Scott Brandenburg

Derek Scott Brandenburg was born on September 3, 1987 in Richmond, Kentucky and departed this life at his home in Beattyville, Kentucky on November 10, 2025 at the age of 38 years, 2 months, and 7 days. He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for Sturgeon Mining Company. Derek is survived by his father, Paul David Brandenburg and wife Anna; his mother, Kasey Spencer Brandenburg; a daughter, Mandolyn Brandenburg; his step-brothers and sisters, Steven Thorpe and wife Mimmy, Josh Hobbs, and Michelle Brewer and husband Ervine; two nephews, Logan and Cooper; a special cousin that was like his brother, Dylan Brandenburg; and a host of aunts, uncles, and other cousins that was more like his brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sutton and Carrie Brandenburg; and two aunts, Phyllis Spencer and Nancy Brandenburg.
