Derek Crane Calkins Obituary
A charming blonde boy grew into a tall and passionate man. He played saxophone, worked diligently, and charmed almost everyone he met. Derek grew up knowing Whitney Lynn Moss and they wed in April of 2016 and went on to have two children.
Derek was predeceased by grandparents, Robert K. and Darla J. Young née Hocker and Roy M. and Ruth M. Calkins née Crane.
Derek is survived by his wife, Whitney Calkins; son, Cody Olen Calkins; mother, Cheryl Young Blackmon (Gregory); father, Steven Calkins (Karen); sister, Tonitia R. Carr; nephew, Noah Carr; cousins: Jayme Carr, Angie Sullivan, Dylan Young and Kassidy Young; aunts and uncles Olen and Leslie Young, Michelle and Joel Carr, Phillip and Brenda Calkins, and Lynn and Kenneth Cooley; and several close friends.
His memorial celebration will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the service begins at 2:30 pm.
