Born in State College, PA on April 24, 1975, he was the son of Carol G. Nowak and the late Francis D. Dillmann.
In addition to his mother, Derek is survived by his sister, Alison Dillmann; aunt and godmother, Maryann Nowak; stepmother, Freda Grantham; 5 cousins, Matthew Gonzales, Stephanie Gonzales, James Dillman (Jamie), Traci Haskins (Brad), and Kristen Frost (David); as well as many extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by a sibling at birth; maternal grandparents, Stanley and Florence Nowak; paternal grandparents Francis and Eleanor Dillmann; two uncles, Joseph Nowak and James Dillman; one aunt, Mary Nowak; three cousins, Bill Nowak Buckworth, Louis Gonzales, and Amber Moats.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, 805 DeKalb St. Bridgeport, PA 19405 from 6pm to 8pm. Military funeral honors will begin at 8pm. Interment will be private.
Arrangements are by The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Bridgeport, PA.

Derek, you have made your final flight into the wild blue yonder´s. You are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender.
