Pfc. Derek J. Plowman

I was at Fort Lee with Plowman, in AIT. He was quiet, but always nice. I think about him still, especially on Memorial Day. It breaks my heart. I hope the family has found peace.

To the family I'm sorry for your loss he was a good friend and I served with him on that tour. I think of him a lot and wish he was still with us

My deepest condolences. I didn't know him, but we'll always be brothers in arms. All gave some, but some gave all.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

To the family of PFC Derek Plowman... I am so very sorry for your loss. I only got the pleasure of knowing Derek for a short time. He was very passionate about being a Soldier. And he always held his head up high. I cannot imagine what you are going through. I have a brother serving in Iraq and it is hard just having him over there. Derek left a smile on my face whenever I spoke with him. He was a very good man, and he loved his brothers and sisters. I hold you all in my prayers and may God bless you throughout life. Derek paid the ultimate sacrifice for all of us and for that I will always be grateful for your family.

I wish I could say something to help ease the pain, but all I can say is that I am truly so sorry for your loss. Derek touched many people deeply and will not be forgotten.

Derek was a friend to my son Spc. Ben Baxter. Ben cared very much for your son and called him friend/brother. Derek was always able to make Ben laugh and that's just not an easy task especially where they were. Your son had something special about him, this is what Ben told me. I can't imagine your loss, you all are in my prayers daily.

To the Family of Pfc. Derek J. Plowman:

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. I wish there was something I could say to the friends and family of SPC Plowman to ease their pain and grief during this difficult time. I didn't know Derek personally but I wish I did. Even though I didn't know him personally, he will definitely leave an impresion on me forever. My sincerest condolences to the Plowman and Campbell families. You are in my heart and my thoughts.

When I read about another soldier getting wounded or losing his life I get angry. Derek, is my hero. He was willing to wear the uniform during a time most of us wouldn't think about it. A brave young man who help protect me and our nation against all enemies. I am so sorry for your loss. Your heart must be broken in a million pieces. Derek, is truly in a better place taken orders from our highest commander. Derek is find, but he needs to know that you guys will be ok too. Please allow God to help your family during this difficult time. I won't try and tell you how you must feel, but I too have experienced the pain of losing a son so young. My son was killed in Iraq 3 months to this date. Everyday is difficult, but God drags me through each day. Please allow God to comfort your family during this difficult time.
