Derrick Cornell Gonzalez better known as Buck (aka Julio) born to George (Danny) Davis and Lucretia (Pat) Gonzalez on August 31, 1965 at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ. Buck transitioned on January 3rd, 2025 at his home in Lakeland, Tennessee. He's a Scotch Plains- Fanwood High School graduate in 1983 where he played 4 years of Varsity basketball.
Buck grew up in Jerseyland on Hamlette Place (The Golden Ghetto of Scotch Plains). Jerseyland was one big family. Buck respected and was respected by the elder men of JL. So much so, he was allowed to hang out with them, while he patiently waited for his time to become a Jerseyland Bomber. Buck had a love for all sports so much in fact that he started out an Eagles fan and ended up as a Vikings fan.
Buck worked at the Adidas Warehouse in Springfield, NJ with his brothers and cousin. Following the warehouse employment is where Buck found his love for driving. He started driving for Foster Medical in Scotch Plains NJ, delivering Oxygen and medical supplies. In December of 1988 a beautiful baby girl named Courtney Marie McCoy was born to Buck and Cheryl Ann. Late 1995, Buck was reintroduced to his sister's high school bestie, Joley Lies. She then became his wife on September 9, 2005. Buck and Joley share 3 sons, Jarad Michael, Drake David, and Kayden Charles who were residents of South Plainfield, NJ until their move to Lakeland, TN in December of 2010. Buck went to trucking school in December 2010, and continued to work in the industry.
Buck, Craig (brother) and Tim (brother in-law) started the 4 Generations Trucking LLC together on April 12, 2019. Which is where he found his true love for the open road driving coast to coast. Buck was the operating manager of 4 Generations Trucking. He enjoyed his time with his wife and children and being present at his son Drake's college football games at Alabama State. He was indeed proud of his accomplishments. Not too long before receiving his wings, Buck turned his life over to the lord and was re-baptised.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, his father George D. Davis, his sister Christine Nieves, his brother George (Jay) Davis, and his niece Briana Nieves. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Joley Lies-Gonzalez, his only daughter Courtney Marie McCoy, his 3 sons Jarad Michael Jirari, Drake David Gonzalez, and Kayden Charles Gonzalez. His grandsons Tristan McCoy-LaBerth and John Henry Jirari. His mother Lucretia (Pat) Gonzalez, his brother Mark Davis (Zina) Trevor Carter, Craig Davis (Allison), sister Tressy Peterson (Tim) and brother in-law William (Bill) Nieves. Along with a host of uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces, family and friends.

I remember Buck when we were kids. Our mothers were best of friends. I haven't seen him since we were kids. But I do remember he was a kind and gentle soul. May he rest in peace in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Sincerely Bay (Reed) Gill and my mother Betty Reed.
