Derrick Harris

Derrick Derrell Harris was born on June 26, 1968, to the late DL Harris and Johnnie Mae Cogar in Clarksdale, MS. His grandparents DL Harris Sr., Mae Francis Harris, Lillie Mae Hill and Wille Lee Coger Sr., all preceded him in death. He believed and expressed his love for God as in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Derrick was a loving and devoted husband. Derrick was recently united in holy matrimony to his loving wife, best friend and soulmate, Taiyanna Harris. The time they had together may have been brief, but the love they had for each other will last a lifetime.
Derrick was employed with Walmart for over twenty-seven years. At Walmart he made many friends and put smiles on many co-workers' faces each day. He was also employed with the Cobb County Schools System for many years. At Derrick's recent 20+ year celebration at Walmart, he was loved on and celebrated as he danced the moment away. This is a memory that will last a lifetime for all the ones that celebrated with him. He will truly be missed by all.
Derrick entered eternal rest on November 10, 2025. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Taiyanna Harris; three beautiful daughters, LaToiya Harris, Schnetta Harris, and Blakely Cairl; three bonus children, Christian Brown (Breanna Brown), Sydney Brown, and Zachery Brown; three brothers, Charles "Chuck" Harris (Nicole Harris), Karl Mables, Leon Mables; five sisters, Dakina Coger, Tynisha Coger (Kevin), Rosetta Coger, Alicia Coger, and Ursula Karl Leon; six grandchildren, Tyjah, Jakiden, Arielle (who preceded him in death), Jonae, Parker, and Remedy Brown; aunts, Soronee and Rosie and Earline; uncles Eddie, and Eugene; and a host of aunts and uncles who preceded him in death. Derrick also had nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, and he will be missed by them all.
