Derrick S. Hemphill Jr.

Derrick S. Hemphill, Jr. a veteran of the US Navy departed this life Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Norfolk, VA. Derrick was born September 10, 1991 in Brevard, NC. He graduated from high school in 2009 and entered the US Navy where he received an honorable discharge in March 2012. Left to cherish his precious memory are his mother, Julia Robinson and father, Derrick S. Hemphill, Sr. of Brevard; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Robinson and paternal grandmother, Sherry Edington, of Brevard; paternal grandfather Andrew Stukes (Dorothy) of Spring Valley, NY; sisters, Julissa Robinson and Kyley Hemphill of Brevard; step parents, Michelle Morris and Fredrick Wilson of Brevard; a niece, Jahazel Lucas; a nephew, Prophecy "PJ" Robinson; a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William J. "Rat" Robinson. Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Marshall Erwin will officiate, burial will be in Cooper Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 129 Cashiers Valley Rd. Arrangements are under the direction of Hart Funeral Service.
