I first met Bro. Moore and his family in our church. I didn't know how to take him. In my shyness, I never carried much conversation with him other than a greeting.
I didn't get to know him until one weekend retreat in Greensboro. While most of the congregation (women and children) gathered for an evening retreat, a few of us stayed behind at the motel. Part of their accommodations included dinner. When I came down from my room, there was an empty seat at his table.
He was the only person I recognized in the room. When I sat down, he started a conversation, and I began to know him.
I discovered he was gifted with an understanding of Scripture that led him to a loving concern for those didn't know or misunderstood Jesus. He was a true Disciple.
As time passed, our friendship grew. I welcomed those moments we shared. While my heart is heavy for his family and friends, I rejoice that he no longer has to deal with the pains and sorrows of this world.
He is a warrior sleeping as he awaits the call of the Savior to come out of the grave and receive his reward, the promise of eternal life.
Sleep on my brother until we meet again!
