Derrick Charles Small

DERRICK CHARLES SMALL Derrick Charles Small finished his final act on December 5, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas. Derrick was born on August 16, 1965, in Ottawa, Kansas, to Ronald L. Small and Mary Small. He was preceded in death by his father.  A vibrant soul and always the life of the party, Derrick had a gift for keeping his family and everyone who knew him entertained. Growing up, he was known affectionately as "Dooley," a name that reflected both his charm and his playful spirit.  Derrick was a natural performer, gifted in poetry writing, dancing, and acting. He had a style all his owneffortless, expressive, and unmistakably Derrick. Wherever he went, he brought laughter, rhythm, and a sense of joy that lingered long after the moment passed.  He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother, Mary Small of Albany, Georgia; his brothers, Tony Hobbs, Ronald C. Small (Karesse), and Daniel Small; his sisters, Rhonda Robinson (Neal) and Alneata Barrett (Bradley); and a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.  Though the curtain has fallen on this chapter, Derrick's spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A celebration of Life and Love will be held at Bethany Chapel Baptist Church in Ottawa, KS. On January 17th, 2026, at 11 am.  In Derrick's own words: "Remember in this life... "You got this."
