Mr. Dev Raj Puri, of Bethesda, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep surrounded by his family and grandchildren on June 2, 2025. He was born on July 12, 1938, in Chak Jhumra, Undivided India, to a family of 3 other siblings.
His life will be remembered for his resolute devotion as a father and a husband. He retired at an early age so he could dedicate his full time to the care of his disabled son (now deceased). His patience, humanity, and kindness will stand as an example for his surviving family and generations to come. He was a man of simple needs who valued his family above all and was a pacifist by nature with a compassionate heart.
Mr. Puri will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, who will cherish the time they spent with him – whether it was playing ping-pong in the basement, having Nerf gun battles, or sitting side by side watching TV shows and movies. The stories he told about his life experiences and insights about the human condition will also be missed by many.
He is survived by his son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. Additionally, he leaves behind two sisters.
He will be deeply missed, remembered always, and honored forever.
