It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Devon Shane McGuire, age 27, who left us far too soon. Devon, a beloved son, brother, and father, passed away February 16, 2025. His departure has left a hole in our hearts, but his memory will forever live on in the lives of all who knew him.
Born April 8, 1997, Devon was a man who exuded joy and love. No matter what life threw his way, he always found a way to make others smile. He was known for his goofy sense of humor, infectious laugh, and the light he brought to any room he entered. Devon was a family man through and through – his love for his parents, siblings, cousins, and his son, was immeasurable. He had a way of making everyone around feel cherished and important.
Devon was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sherlene Carroll; grandfather, Mark McGuire; and great-aunts, Debbie Lowry, Kathy Landin, and Melissa McCollum.
Devon was a proud father of a son, and he will greatly be missed by his nieces and nephews and many other family members who looked up to him.
Survivors include his parents, Mark Shane McGuire and Lisa Michelle Wilson; girlfriend, Bethanie Swanner; son Cash'Lee Devon Shane Swanner; brothers, Jacob L. (Brooklyn) McGuire, Justin C. Carroll, Kovi A. (Cheyene) Wilson, and Dylan Ward; sisters, Brooklyn G. Wilson (Jonathan A. Collins), Jaycee A. Carroll (Chris Lopez), Alexis B. Carroll (Shaq Calhoun), Kayla A. Carroll (Kendrick Fife); his nanny, Annette Bing; and several cousins, all of whom will carry his memory with them for the rest of their lives.
Devon had a deep love for animals, especially his blue nose pit bull, Karma, who was by his side through thick and thin. He had such a passion for music, enjoying it with friends (whom he considered his brothers), and living life to the fullest – whether it was fishing, locking the hubs, or going on "side quests."
A devoted Baptist, Devon had a strong belief in God and was steadfast in his faith. His kindness, warmth, and love for others will never be forgotten. Devon's passing leaves an irreplaceable void, but we find comfort in knowing that his legacy, love, laughter, and faith will live on in each of us.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Shaver officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dylan Ward, Cliff Dixon, Yandell Ratliff, Jacob L. McGuire, Blake Stricklin, Chase Browning, Juice Wilson, and Clarence C. Neal, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Apache Wilson, Malik Madden, Brayden Wilson, K. Moore, Cody Cameron, Brandon Barley, and Alex Barley
