Devon Severt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Oak Lawn Funeral Home-Cremation Center and Memorial Cemetery on Feb. 26, 2026.
Devon Brandon Severt, a master mechanic with grease permanently embedded under his fingernails and a heart way bigger than his toolbox, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, leaving behind laughter, sarcasm and at least one unfinished project.

Devon was born on December 21, 1978, in Detroit, Michigan to Larry Severt and Karen Smith.

Devon could fix just about anything, except maybe his own mouth, Devon loved picking on people. If he teased you relentlessly, congratulations, you were his people. If he didn't make you laugh you probably hadn't met him yet.

Devon loved his dad most of all, their bond was unbreakable. Built on respect, loyalty, and the understanding that duct tape could fix nearly anything.

Devon is preceded in death by his grandparents Myrtle McCown Tucker, Glade Sever, and Kathleen Ace Lambert. Uncle Gary Tucker and aunts Wilma Safadi, Nellie Butcher, and Sandy Smith.

Survivors include, his father, Larry Severt (Dana), Mother Karen Smith (Jerry) brothers Jammie (Bobbi) Severt, and Chad (Alyssa) Severt. Stepsiblings Joshua Gilmore, and Jessica Anderson. Partner Christy Gribble, Nephews Kross Severt, Robi and Keoni Enlow. Aunt and uncle Gary and Sheree Crull Cousins Shane (Jade) Crull, Dustin Crull, and Adam (Kristen) Erdmann.

Pa's special little buddy Jaxton Clouse

Honorary son: Zach Hodge (Hannah) and their children Kinslee, Mason and Cade Hodge.

As well as a host of other family, friends and neighbors too numerous to count.

In true Devon fashion, we know heaven is a bit louder, funnier, and the angels are already tired of his jokes. Devon wouldn't want you all to cry or be sad, but just to think of him when something breaks and know he could fix it, eventually.

A memorial service to honor the life and legacy of Devon Sever will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 12:00PM until 4:00PM.
