Devon Weaver

MILLERSBURG - Devon Weaver, 76, of New Cumberland and formerly of Millersburg, PA, passed away on October 18th at Hershey Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 12th, 1948, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Lois C. (Bender) and Robert E. Schlegel. After the loss of her parents at age 11, Devon went to live with her grandparents, Eva and Russell Bender, in Millersburg.
A graduate of Millersburg High School, she attended Elizabethtown College for two years, studying Liberal Arts. She later married James Weaver, and together they had one daughter, Colleen M. Weaver.
Devon worked as a waitress at the Millersburger Hotel before attending Harrisburg's Steelton Highspire Technical School, where she graduated in 1981 as an LPN. She went on to work at Holy Spirit Hospital for one year and then spent ten years working at the Susquehanna Lutheran Village in Millersburg.
In 1992, after a traumatic surgery left her disabled, Devon continued to face life with strength and determination, always striving for independence.
Devon loved shopping second-hand stores and decorating her home in a country style. A devoted cat lover, she rescued and cared for many cats over the years. Known for her sense of humor and deep love for her country, Devon brought warmth and laughter to those around her.
In addition to her parents, Devon was preceded in death by her daughter, Colleen M. Weaver-Zaiane. She is survived by her sister, Robin Young, brother-in-law Karl Arthur Young, nephew Adam and his spouse DeVaughna, niece Samantha, and great-niece Adalenetta.
She will be deeply missed by her family, who find comfort knowing she is now pain-free and at peace with God in Heaven.
The family extends special thanks to the compassionate physicians, nurses, and staff of Hershey Medical Center and Grane Hospice for their excellent care. Memorial contributions may be made to any local animal shelter of your choice.
Devon will be laid to rest beside her daughter at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg, on Saturday, November 1, 2025. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM.
