Devon Whelan

Our beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Devon Whelan, left this world after suffering a debilitating stroke. Devon, a true Cape Codder, was born at Cape Cod Hospital and grew up and lived and worked on Cape during her 30 years with us.
Kind, generous, funny, hardworking, beautiful-both inside and out, she will be remembered for dedicating her life to helping others. While beginning her career as a cosmetics technician, she found her true calling with Capabilities in its residential program. Devon began as a PCA and was promoted to the position of Direct Support Professional where she provided incredible and compassionate care for patients and for Capabilities' staff. With maturity and compassion beyond her young age, she knew how to make everyone she worked with feel special and happy.
Devon enjoyed spending time off with family and friends. Bentley, her four-legged "handsome boy", took Devon for many adventures as they explored the Cape's walking trails, bogs, and beaches-often venues for Devon's injured animal rescues-with Wildcare's rescue number on her phone's "favs".
Introspective, she was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. We will always remember her fiery red hair, piercing blue eyes, and caring personality. When you think of Devon, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.
Devon was predeceased in her death by her father, Paul Whelan. She leaves behind her mother Barbara Hayes, brother AJ Whittet, step-father Al Whittet, Fiancé Ben Butilier and their dog Bentley, and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, October 19th, at the Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich, MA. A celebration of Devon's life will be held after Mass from Noon to 2 pm at the Cranberry Valley Golf Course Club House.
