Devona Yvette Eubanks our beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, and selfless grandmother gained her angel wings on December 17, 2023. Devona was born May 26, 1977, in
Decatur, Illinois to Jocelyn Hubbartt and Dwight Newbern.
As a youth, Devona confessed her faith in Christ Jesus and became a member of New Salem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. S.W. Hale Sr.
Devona attended Stephen Decatur High School and Richland Community College where she earned a Nursing Assistance Certification. She dedicated a year to CSL Plasma Center while she gained her Phlebotomy Certification. Devona devoted her life to nursing for many years. When she was offered positions in local hospitals, she preferred to work with seniors that had no family or friends to visit. She expressed that's where her heart was, to help those who had no one to brighten their days, and that gave her life meaning.
Devona was not only admired for her work ethics, but also for her vibrant personality. Devona had such a big heart, friends and family knew they could always rely on her guidance, support, and a helping hand.
Devona leaves to cherish fond memories, her mother and father, children: sons, Savon (Kadashia) Eubanks, Gerald Plato, Gedarrion (ShaKiera) Plato, daughters, Kiara Bond and Jaydiona Eubanks, grandson, Pierson and Milo, sisters; LaShawn Eubanks (Johnny) Simon and Natanza Bratcher, brothers; Tramaine Seawood and Dwight Seawood; god sister, Cami Brown and god brother, Cortez (Kateria) Brown, great uncle, Smith (Maxine) Harris, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
Devona is proceeded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Willie Mae Beasley, uncle, Eric Beasley, and paternal grandparents, Mintry and William Newbern.
Devona cherished quality time with her family and most importantly her five children. She made it a priority to create lasting memories. If you knew Devona, you knew the love that she had for her children.
